If you haven't checked out the article in the Courier Post about the Red Fades to Black Nocturne charity concert, then you should check it out Right Here. Its a really good article so you should all read it. The Courier Post is South Jersey's newspaper. In other upcoming RFTB news local Jersey band Leave of Absence will be on the show to discuss upcoming plans and work on their first full length. Should be a good show going down THIS Sunday the 27th, 7-9pm est. And of course if you can't catch the live airing, catch it all week on Radio Domain.

RFTB in the media!
06:41pm 07/12/2004
Thats right, Red Fades to Black is being featured in various interviews, video clips, and write ups in the near future. After the huge success of the Nocturne and the money raised for my cousin both La Salle 56 (La Salle's own cable channel reaching 300,000 homes) and the Courier Post (South Jersey's newspaper) have decided to run stories about us.

First up is the interview, wexp studio tour, and footage of the Nocturne which you can catch on La Salle 56 now through January. Here are the details for that so you can check it out:

-Its airing on La Salle 56, so you must have cable and live in the Philadelphia area, tune to channel 56 on your dial and see if you get it.
- The show it is on is called 'Backstage Pass' and a segment of it is dedicated to the Nocturne.

The show schedule is as follows:
Sundays 12am and 10pm
Tuesdays 8pm
Wednesdays 1pm
Thursdays 8pm
Fridays 10pm

I've been told that this segment will air at those times through January but you can check out http://www.lasalle.edu/lasalle56 for weekly schedules and more details.
So you've got many chances to check it out, so do it!

The Courier Post will also be running a story about my cousin and RFTB sometime next week I believe, I'll have a link to it hopefully posted on the site as soon as I know. It will be under a section called 'The Ties That Bind' so be sure all you jersey people check that out too.

Oh and this Friday December 10th is the last RFTB live airing until 2005, so don't miss it either! Thanks again and rock on!

Outcome of Nocturne, Pompeo's Departure and more
09:45pm 21/11/2004
Back with another RFTB Livejournal update. Don't worry this update contains a lot of current RFTB topics that all of you have been wondering about. First of all the Nocturne we had on Saturday the 13th overall went amazinging. All of the bands kicked ass and we raised close to 500 dollars for my sick cousin Todd who has Cystic Fibrosis. WEXP will be cutting an official check to the family sometime after Thanksgiving. We estimate over 120 people at the concert (and if you know most La Salle concerts or events that is a great amount) rocking out. I want to personally thank all of you for coming out to the show and for such a great cause, it was an awesome experience. I may have some pictures up on the website from it in a few weeks, if I can find some people who had a camera there.

Of course the news that has been on many people's minds has been the sudden departure of Chris Pompeo from Red Fades to Black a few weeks ago. We all had some good times with him on the show. His official reasons for leaving were based on 'creative differences'. I and all of WEXP wish him luck on his future endeavors. Unfortunatly and as many of you know he has decided to let this choice of his to leave RFTB affect other aspects of his life including jeopordizing his friendships with a few people including myself (he is currently my roommate as well). The decision of his to leave and my decision to maintain RFTB and find his eventual replacement as myself and most people see it as is strictly business, not personal. Everyone involved in RFTB has made this very clear, I still wish him luck in his future plans and endeavors but it is ashame he has not been able to distinguish between friendships/personal life and business. This type of thing is inevitable in both the music world and the business world.
As for the replacement co-host. Well many of you have mentioned that RFTB loyal fan and huge supporter Gina Monturo would make a perfect replacement. She has in fact been filling in since Pompeo's departure and is most likely to officially join RFTB on air in early 2005. Zach Cain has also come on board as a sort of business advisor towards RFTB promotions as well as a label him and I have been discussing. We have a lot of great ideas for 2005 and hopefully they will come to life in the next few months.

On a La Salle/RFTB topic, the designer of the infamous 'BoB' stickers which many see plastered all over campus , Philly and as far away as Amsterdam has made an Official RedFadestoBlack Bob sticker. This Bob is dressed in an RFTB shirt, holding a lighter in the air, and has black hair with red spiked tips. We have been copying them to sticker paper and they are available for free, just send us an email.

We have also been expanding the most important aspect of RFTB which is of course the music. We are continuing to reach out more to the local scene to bring you awesome metal, rock , and hardcore locals in interviews, live performances for you, and simply playing them weekly on our show. At the same time you'll notice the usual RFTB artists being played in addition to acts 'new' to RFTB. Thats about it I suppose, I'll hopefully be getting some time to update and redo some of the website with new DJ Bios, staff bios, more pics and links and such. Thanks for checking out RFTB and rock on....

-Jared aka J-Rock

WEXP Summer Sessions
11:55am 23/06/2004
On June 12th and June 18th WEXP Studios had its first in a series of summer meetings and gatherings to discuss station events and promotions for the upcoming season. In addition to this we just hung out and decided in order to make this the best season in history a bunch of us here at RFTB and WEXP will be moving in early to campus(3rd week in august or so) to get the station and shows ready and revamped so we can start broadcasting ASAP. We are definatly looking foward to coming back live...stay tuned to WEXP Studios and RFTB Online for more details on the new season.

Prepare...
12:14am 02/06/2004
Thats right everyone..prepare...cuz Red Fades to Black Radio is returning to WEXP Live Worldwide in the end of August. We have a NEW timeslot: 8-10pm est on Fridays. Kickass thing about this slot is that the slot after it may remain unused which means longer airings of RFTB Radio! As stated in the last post we have been discussing and working on things for the new season including a charity event, another Nocturne, new playlists, new segments, and RFTB merchandise. Merchandise?? Thats right we are hoping to bring back the orginal RFTB shirt design as well as a brand new design which we hope to sell not only in Philly but online as well. In edition to shirts we also hope to have more stickers and other such junk. Don't know yet when any of these will be available, but their coming. We are also trying to revive an older idea which involves releasing a compilation CD which will include tracks from the local bands and Nocturne bands we promote and play; as well as selected segments of the past RFTB shows including our interviews.

In the world of the RFTB DJs we have both been up to various projects...or something like that. Pompeo is currently working on his longtime music project 'Prism' which has been years in the making. Jared is working along with partner in crime Gina on a music project so far known 'disorganized sockz', as well as his longtime website The Site. And of course lets not forget those damn things called summer jobs. Both have been coming up with new ideas and concepts for the show and to broaden the spread of the infection known as RedFadestoBlack. Rumor also has it that Nick from Inane/Leavenworth/Nutbox is working on a RFTB intro theme/song.

Be sure to keep your browser homepage's set to www.redfadestoblack.50megs.com as we will be updating it soon and for the exclusive RFTB news first be sure to sign up for the RFTB Army.
